GENERAL INFORMATION:

Only traffic summonses that have been checked "Court Appearance Required" or that allege a violation which by law requires a court appearance will automatically be listed on the court calendar.  If you have received a traffic summons that does not fall into these categories and you wish to appear and plead "not guilty," you must advise the court in writing prior to the date on the bottom of your summons.

If you send your fine payment by mail, DO NOT SEND CASH, we do accept credit cards.  Please send only check or money order made out to the SECAUCUS MUNICIPAL COURT. Traffic summonses which do not require a court appearance are due by the date on the bottom of the summons.  If payment is received after that date, you may be subject to late penalties.  A receipt will only be mailed to you if YOU MAIL A SELF-ADDRESSED, STAMPED ENVELOPE with your payment or you may pay via secured internet at New Jersey Court Online.

If you fail to appear in response to a summons or to pay the prescribed penalty, additional penalties may be assessed; a warrant may be issued for your arrest and your driving privileges in New Jersey may be revoked.

Criminal matters and quasi-criminal matters require a court appearance unless otherwise indicated by the Court.

Bail posted with the Court is to ensure the appearance of the defendant whenever his/her case is scheduled until disposition.  Defendant's failure to appear at any time his/her case is scheduled will result in a bail forfeiture and an arrest warrant being issued.

If you have any further questions concerning this information or any additional court related concerns, please call the number listed above.
