301   ACRYLIC PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS

Acrylic painting is fun and simple to learn.  You can learn the art of acrylic painting in a straightforward and unique way.  Lessons involve color mixing and basic transparent acrylic techniques.

CLASS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 29, 2005

This class is designed to help students of any level achieve a better understanding of the art of portrait.  Special attention will be given to attaining a likeness of the subject.  Students can work from photos, reproduction, mirrors, models, or the imaginations.  Working from life will be encouraged.  The instructor will give demonstrations in a range of techniques and media.

303    POTTERY
WEDNESDAYS – 8 CLASSES

CLASS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 28, 2005

Creating hand made ceramic objects is a fulfilling experience.  If your goal is to make unique one-of-a-kind pieces that start with a mere lump of moist clay that is flexible and pliable, then this is the class for you.  Clay will do anything you want.  Traditional and contemporary hand building techniques will be explored in this class.  Students will be encouraged to explore the “artist” that is in each of us.  Whether you’re just beginning or experienced, you’ll have an enjoyable learning experience.  Come to class prepared with many ideas: vessels (pictures or drawings) and decoration samples (pictures).  A tool and materials will be available upon request before the semester begins.

304  CERAMICS
MONDAYS - 8 Classes

CLASS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 26, 2005  

Experienced or inexperienced, you can relax and enjoy a worthwhile hobby.  Learn how to clean greenware and advance to more difficult work.  Materials are purchased by students.  There will be 10 meetings per class as per the established schedule.  At the first meeting pieces will be selected, followed by 9 weeks of instructional classes.

305   PHOTOGRAPHY
WEDNESDAYS - 8 Classes

CLASS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 28, 2005

Everything you wanted to know about good picture taking and camera use.  This Black/White course will help students find the "artist from within."  Students will learn about the 35mm camera, its parts and how they work together; they will also learn about CF stops, shutter speeds, and exposure meters.  The central theme will be the importance of good composition.  Students will explore the concepts of good / bad composition and how to create it and control it.  Students will use dark room facilities to process film and make their own prints.  MATERIAL FEES - $10.00.
